When it comes to our pick of beaches we’ve got some secret stunners around here. The picturesque Sentinel, Home Bay and Hamilton Road Beaches are mere minutes from Ponsonby Road, and with views to the North Shore enjoy all day sun – so slip, slop, slap, and maybe consider a sunshade. If you get down early you can ‘bags’ one of the loungers, but if you’re not quick enough off the mark (say, for example, you got sidetracked by a coffee on Jervois Road) then warm yourself up after a dip by lazing on one of the big, smooth rocks, along the coastline. After feeding your soul with UV, fill up with a picnic, or a hot feast from Fishsmith.
