What we’ve seen so far in 2016 —
As we approach the middle of the year, a moment of reflection seems called for.
So far, 2016 has certainly been interesting. Record low numbers of listings have continued to be the trend. With the better weather extending into Winter, homes are still coming to market although not at the level needed to meet demand.
On the other hand, we are seeing a few more homes passing in at auction. Buyers seem exhausted and some would rather complete their purchase by negotiation afterwards than fight it out under the hammer. The risk with this is they miss out on the popular homes that create a bidding war.
Low interest rates look set to continue, as do rising prices – at least in our area of the market (realestate.co.nz have put together some insightful statistics in their May report — find it here).
We are having a very strong year, wth our results well ahead of 2015, both in terms of number of sales and prices achieved. This is not just us, but the Custom Residential as a whole. It is gratifying to have such a strong referral business based on the word of our past clients.
