Enjoy laid-back luxe at Colleen
When you set foot in this special salon at 466 Karangahape Road, you’ll be stepping back 100 years. Well, when it comes to the original paint texturing the walls, the pink pressed tin ceiling, and the stunningly sympathetic work of architect Sue Hillery, that is. Beyond that everything about this salon is at the forefront of hairdressing, minus any pretensions, which was the sole vision of Colleen’s owner, Lauren Gunn. It started with eschewing the usual reception desk, and it continued with the team of professional stylists she’s collaborated with. They’re a creatively eclectic bunch, as comfortable styling for a fashion shoot, or on a film set, as they are sitting down and having a chin wag about your new look. Lauren, having herself worked on everything from New York Fashion Week to the Real Housewives of Auckland, describes the salon as ‘delivering high quality service with the cheek of a barbershop’. Only the best products are used, including Kevin Murphy Colour, a honey based, low toxicity range, which well outlasts other brands used by many Auckland hairdressers. Pop in for a consult. Rock out looking fine!
