Divine al fresco dining at the Gypsy Caravan

It’s okay, you can stop whispering for fear of jinxing it – spring has definitely sprung. But if you are experiencing any lingering winter malaise, we have just the tonic for you – the Gypsy Caravan at 130 Ponsonby Road. Head Chef, Reginalo (Regie), hails from Odette’s, and is responsible for a short, but exciting menu that wanders through the Middle East, North Africa and Spain. Regie takes a few local cues too, foraging edible flowers, herbs and vegetables from Woodhill and Point Chevalier, along with the ones he grows on site, to use in his cooking. The menu offers street food for those wanting a quick visit, or more formal fare (there’s even a dessert featuring ‘rose smoke’) that’s guaranteed to send your taste buds roaming whether you dine in, or sit outside under the stars.
